What is your return policy?
Vanity Shades are custom made to order, based on measurements provided by the Buyer at the time of order and therefore can only be returned for refund under the following conditions.
- If the item is defective or is not as ordered, ie. wrong size or wrong fabric. It must be returned in the original packaging and insured for the full value of the contents.
- If the item is damaged in shipment – Please provide photos of the packaging and the damaged item within two days of receipt of your order
Do you ship overseas and to P.O. boxes?
Unfortunately, the cost of shipping overseas can cost almost as much as the shade itself. However, if that isn’t a problem for you, I can certainly make arrangements to meet your request. I can ship to P.O. Boxes that are set up to accept large package deliveries.
Can I provide my own fabric?
Yes, I’d be happy to work with a fabric you already have to create a one of a kind design for your space.
What is the difference between the Rectangular and the Half Drum frame styles?
The Rectangular frame style sides are at a 90 degree angle to the wall and the Half Drum is arced to the wall (no straight edges).
What is the processing time?
Orders will ship within 2 to 3 weeks of receipt of payment and the required measurements from the Buyer.
Do you accept custom orders, i.e. sizes other than those listed or for a different style light fixture?
Yes, however, the largest size is 50″.
Can a diffuser be added to the bottom of the shade to further conceal the bulbs?
Unfortunately, no. Multi light fixtures generate more heat and it’s important to maintain adequate ventilation, for safety reasons.
Does the addition of a Vanity Shade darken the room too much?
Lightweight fabrics, i.e. cotton, linen or silk, in lighter colors, will retain the most light. The primary objective when designing my Vanity Shades was to diffuse the harsh light, common to this type of light fixture, while maintaining adequate task lighting to keep the space functional. This is achieved by keeping the shades open at the top allowing plenty of upward reflective light and at the bottom providing downward light for performing tasks such as applying makeup, haircare etc…
How are the shades attached?
The fabric covered polystyrene shade liner is mounted on an aluminum frame that attaches to the top ledge of the fixture’s faceplate with Industrial Strength Velcro strips.
Are all of the fabrics listed available in stock?
Most of the listed fabrics are either on hand at my workshop or are available in stock at one of my local suppliers. However, there are several that must be ordered, which can take from 3 to 10 days for delivery. Please Note: Fabrics are a “seasonal” item and may be discontinued at any time without warning. In such a case you will be notified and a 2nd choice will be requested.
What materials are used in the fabrication of Vanity Shades?

- heavyweight polystyrene shadeliner
